Description

When tracking and training, the leash can't be the problem. The Protector Round Long Line disappears from the way — and holds up when it matters.

Round section that won't snag The circular design allows the line to glide smoothly over obstacles, vegetation, and around the dog's and handler's legs — no sudden tugs, no tangles, no blockages. Fundamental when the dog works freely and the line is partially on the ground.

Dyneema® core. The world's strongest fiber. Underneath the PVC exterior is a Dyneema® core — extremely strong and lightweight. The line withstands sudden tugs without stretching or yielding, even in the most demanding conditions.

Waterproof and no glove — by design The PVC exterior is completely waterproof — it doesn't absorb water or mud. No glove: in tracking and training, the line must be able to slide freely on the ground. A glove snags; the round section doesn't.

Swivel snap hook with screw lock Prevents the line from twisting during work. The connection is secure and won't accidentally open.

PVC exterior, Dyneema® core, orange color. Available in 10m and 15m.

Frequently Asked Questions

What activities is this longline designed for?

It's ideal for tracking, training, search work, or walks with greater freedom of movement.

What's the advantage of the Dyneema® core?

Dyneema® is an extremely strong and lightweight fiber that guarantees a strong and durable connection, even with sudden pulling.

What is a long leash for dogs?

A long dog leash is one that allows your dog to move and explore while you maintain control. Long leashes are used for tracking, where the dog works independently to follow a trail and the handler follows behind. It is also an excellent training tool for practicing recall and other skills with your dog. The long leash has a carabiner at one end to attach to the dog's harness. The other end can be with or without a handle. If you mainly use a long leash for tracking and practicing skills like recall, it's recommended to choose a line without a handle to prevent tangling or getting caught. For shorter long lines, primarily used for walks, a handle is preferable.

How to use a long leash for dog training?

When training with a long line, it is recommended to use a harness instead of a collar to minimize the risk of injury in case of sudden jerks. The Line harness 5.0, for example, is equipped with a specific leash attachment point for a long line.

In tracking, the handler usually wants to be in contact with their dog while working. However, in dog training, the long line is typically used to practice skills needed when the dog is off-leash, such as recall and stopping. To practice these skills, the leash should be loose so that the dog barely notices it is attached.

You can let the leash slide through the hand closest to the dog and use the other hand to gently adjust the distance and tension. By using both hands, it is easier to stop the dog without sudden jerks, and it also reduces the risk of losing the leash.

Why doesn't the Protector Round Long Line have a mitt?

The Protector Round Long Line is specifically designed for tracking, training, and free movement, where a traditional hand loop could become a hindrance.
Without a hand loop, the line can easily slide across the ground, through vegetation, or around obstacles without getting caught. This significantly reduces the risk of sudden jerks, tangles, or snags when the dog moves freely.
Furthermore, in tracking or long-line training, it's common to allow the line to drag partially on the ground so the dog can work with greater freedom. A hand loop could get snagged on branches, rocks, or bushes, interrupting the dog's work or causing sudden tension in the line.
The round, continuous design also improves safety and handling fluidity, allowing the line to be quickly gathered or released when necessary.
In summary, the absence of a hand loop is not a design flaw, but an intentional decision to maximize freedom of movement, prevent snags, and improve performance in tracking and training activities.
